WANA (Nov 21) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi continued his diplomatic outreach, holding discussions with the foreign ministers of Ghana (the Board’s Chair), Egypt, Armenia, and Thailand. He urged IAEA Board members to reject a resolution proposed by the European Troika (UK, France, and Germany) to prevent the Board from being used for political agendas.

Araghchi highlighted Iran’s constructive approach to its relations with the IAEA and referenced the recent understandings reached during IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi’s visit to Tehran. He warned that any resolution against Iran would trigger reciprocal actions.

Earlier, In an interview, Araghchi also described Grossi’s visit as politically motivated, emphasizing that Iran would provide an “appropriate response” to Europe’s non-technical actions.

He stated, “The purpose of inviting Grossi to Tehran was to open a new chapter of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA. We sought to create common ground to address outstanding issues, and Grossi expressed optimism about this approach.”

Araghchi further stressed Iran’s commitment to collaboration with the IAEA to resolve remaining challenges, adding, “Europe’s actions contradict this cooperative intent. We have made it clear that pressure will never yield positive results or deter Iran from its path of constructive engagement with the IAEA.”

He concluded by warning that any unconstructive measures by Europe would lead Iran to take a firm stance, potentially escalating the situation into a more complex phase.
